Hitching up a fifth wheel may appear simple, but it requires skill and practice. If you're new to this or find it challenging to connect your trailer with your tow vehicle, we've got you covered! Getting Started: Prep and Setup

Before you begin aligning your vehicle and fifth wheel, start by securely placing the ball mount into your vehicle's receiver. Remember to lock the pin to keep the mount in place. Find a level area to start hitching and ensure that you use wheel chocks behind each of your camper's tires for added stability. Finding a flat area is important for safety reasons. It also makes the entire process way easier.

Aligning Your Vehicle and Fifth Wheel

Aligning your vehicle with the fifth wheel can be challenging, but don't worry! Even with tools like backup cameras or assistance from a passenger, it may take a few attempts to get it right. Take your time and follow these steps:

  1. Place your vehicle in park and open the latch on your fifth wheel.
  2. Use a jack or your rig's included crank/switch to lift the camper and position it over the receiver.
  3. Get back into your vehicle and reverse a small distance to align the receiver and hitch accurately.

Hitching Your Fifth Wheel

Now comes the easier part! Follow these steps to hitch your fifth wheel securely:

  1. Release the coupler latch on the receiver and carefully lower the fifth wheel onto the hitch.
  2. Once everything is in place, close and lock the latch using a pin lock.
  3. Lower your fifth wheel fully onto the hitch and remove the wheel chocks (and jack if used).
  4. Finally, get back into your vehicle and you're ready to hit the road!
