How to Customize Your RV’s Interior

Your RV likely comes with plenty of features designed to make your travels comfortable, safe, and convenient. However, the color scheme and general layout of your RV may also feel somewhat generic and uninspiring to look at. Fortunately, this is something that’s really easy to fix. You can add decorations to your RV and personalize it just like you would your house or apartment, provided you take a little care to make your decor travel-friendly. Here are some helpful tips on customizing your RV’s interior.

Adding Some Color

Color helps to brighten a space and make it truly feel like home, no matter what your palette is. Take away the drab grays and browns of your RV by painting the walls or cabinets with a color that truly inspires you. You can do one bright accent wall in a trendy color like coral or teal, or you could paint everything white or pastel and use bold accessories on top. It’s best to stick to lighter colors in a small space like your RV, since dark colors can make a small space feel claustrophobic, but don’t let us be the arbiters of your taste.

Bringing in Some Greenery

Do you have a green thumb, or even just wish you did? Maybe a full garden plot is a bit beyond you, or maybe your patio is filled with high-maintenance houseplants that you dutifully tend to daily. Either way, you can bring some of that refreshing greenery into your RV! 

Plants help to clean the air and liven up a space, and as long as you make sure they can’t tip over or spill, you should be good to go. Heavy pots are best for floor plants, while hanging plastic baskets can be hung from the ceiling or walls. A small kitchen herb garden can be mounted to the wall or hung over the window when you’re camping to add some flavor to your food.

Soften Things Up

If you feel like your RV interior is a bit sterile, why not make it more cozy with throw pillows, blankets, curtains, and fabric wall hangings? Tapestries can be an easy and lightweight way to decorate a whole wall or create a partition between rooms. Plush fleece blankets on your couch and Grandma’s handmade quilt on your bed will help you bring home on the road with you.
